Rock church and wood chapel

The rock church of Temppeliaukio Kirkko and the wood chapel of Kamppi.

Temppeliaukio was visually stunning, but it was very touristy. You will probably be disappointed if you are looking for a quiet place to pray or seek some spiritual guidance.

Kamppi Chapel on the other hand was empty, and inside of the timber built chapel  was completely silent. It was like being trapped in a wooden box, and not hearing anything was an eerily feeling at first. However, as I got used to it, it became relaxing and liberating.

Helsinki

We stayed in Helsinki for 6 days in between us traveling to other places.

Helsinki was a small cosy city, and it easy to move around places using their good public transport system.  Actually, the city was small enough for us to walk instead.  There was a lot of nature around the city, and it was relaxing to walk through parks and along the riverside to see trees in Autumn colours.

People were very kind and friendly, and food was good too. However like Stockholm, eating at restaurants was rather expensive. Our option to save money was to get breakfast at a bakery. People of Finland know how to make cinnamon buns, and a bottomless cup of coffee and a good cinnamon bun were around 3 euros.

Helsinki had an interesting mixture of architectural styles, ranging from old buildings with Swedish and Russian heritage through to art nouveau, and contemporary designs. We noticed that many buildings were plain and square, and even though these grey functionalist buildings weren't very glamorous, they were still interesting at least to eyes of tourists.

Helsinki was a pleasant city with its beautiful nature and good people. I would like to visit again, may be in winter to see how people cope with minus 20 degree temperature.
